As Adaptive Training became more adaptive, another risk appeared.
Adaptation could become randomness.
A system that simply asks, "What do you feel like doing today?" is flexible but not necessarily productive.
Adaptive Training therefore began separating training intent from individual exercises.
Four primary intents emerged:
Build
Mixed-modal training designed to accumulate productive work.
Build sessions often combine resistance training and conditioning.
Load
Training where heavier resistance or strength development receives greater priority.
Restore
Lower-fatigue work designed to improve recovery, movement quality, circulation, and readiness.
Restore must remain Restore even when the user suddenly has additional time.
Capacity
Work specifically designed to improve aerobic or conditioning qualities.
This framework allows the individual workout to change while preserving the purpose of the training day.
